About Us

Cassie Zimnoch
Growing up a mile from the beach in Hermosa Beach, California with my sister and parents, I never envisioned myself moving to Texas.  However, after graduating from Marymount High School in Los Angeles and falling in love with Austin, I began school at the University of Texas at Austin in August of 2013.

My passion for music drove me to become a music writer for both The Horn and Pop Press International, writing reviews of concerts and albums. As a current freshman I’m studying journalism with hopes of becoming a newspaper or magazine writer.

Ceci Gonzales
Ceci Gonzales is born and raised in a small town in Texas by the name of San Benito, located in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. She is currently a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin, and a staff writer for the ATX section for an online student-run publication, Orange Magazine.

After completing her bachelor’s degree in journalism, she hopes to pursue a career in the magazine entertainment industry. When she's not writing, she enjoys dancing, completing jigsaw puzzles, and shopping at local thrift shops.

Ceci dreams of someday becoming a writer for an arts and culture magazine, and eventually becoming an editor for a well-known publication.

Emily Collins

Emily Collins is a freshman journalism major at the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism degree with a focus on investigative journalism.

She was born in Jackson, Tennessee, where she lived for 16 years before moving to Texas. During her time at UT, she has volunteered at several human rights fundraising and activism events and lectures. She is currently the freshman representative for Texas Secular Humanists, a volunteer organization on the UT campus. With TSH, she assists in coordinating fundraising and beautification projects in and around Austin, TX.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Emily plans to continue living in Austin, where she hopes to work writing about current political and social events happening around the city.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys playing guitar and ukulele and participating in various outdoor events such as hiking, canoeing, and camping.

Samantha Branson
I started out as a journalist my freshman year in high school working for my school's yearbook. Four years later I became the editor-in-chief of the school yearbook and newspaper. Now as a Freshman in college I hope to major in public relations, carrying the skills I have learned into successful advertising and marketing.

Katherine Recatto
I was born in Houston and lived there until moving to Louisiana at the age of 12. While the move taught me many things, I knew I was meant to be in Texas. I dedicated my high school years to succeed in hopes of getting accepted to the University of Texas, where great academics and barbecue coincide.

I am currently a sophomore student at the University of Texas, Austin where I am pursuing my career in Broadcast Journalism. With my immense passion for athletics, I focus my studies on sports as I strive to become a successful Sports Broadcaster. I love every aspect of Austin and cherish the endless opportunities UT has provided.
